What Is A Conveyancer?
A Conveyancer is an attorney (who has passed the national conveyancing examination) is the only person (by law) who can register a property transfer.
Conveyancing is the process whereby the legal title of a property is transferred from one party to another. Every time a property is sold – a new deed of transfer must be drawn up and registered.
There are three types of conveyancers involved in the property buy/sell process:
Transfer Attorney
Appointed by the seller, this conveyancer transfers the property from the seller to the purchaser.
Bond Attorney
Representing the buyer and the bank (granting the loan), this conveyancer is appointed by the bank and register the bond over the property.
Cancellation Attorney
Appointed by the bank (cancelling the seller's bond), this conveyancer cancel the seller's existing home loan.
